Women Empowering Women.

SPENDING A GOOD PORTION OF MY FORMATIVE EARLY ADULT YEARS IN UGANDA LEFT A LASTING IMPRINT ON ME.

I knew that if I was going to live in Uganda, I wanted to have the most authentic experience. Living in a rural village had its fair share of challenges but the depth of connections that I developed far outweighed the discomfort. To this day I still consider these friends family and take any chance I can to share time together. After 6 long years, I finally made it back and my heart could burst with love… and my mind is spinning with ideas.

but first… meet irene

My serial entrepreneur, community leader, Ugandan sister.

She and I met in 2011 and immediately hit it off while we sat for hours in her garden pulling ground nuts off the vine. I was there for the birth of her first baby, traveled on many long bus rides to visit her family members, and have had more sleepovers than I can count. She is one of the most driven, hardworking, compassionate women I know. On this recent visit, she was sharing her heart to empower the women in her community to find creative ways to earn a living and to take action with their lives instead of being dependent on their husbands. I witnessed her living this out by supporting other women through her yogurt business, learning how to drive a motorbike so she could be self-sufficient, and activating the other women on staff with

creative entrepreneurial ideas

Women Empowering Women Initiatives

donate a cow

Having a cow is a great investment for the women. Not only does the cow provide milk that can be sold or used for the family (and for Irene’s yogurt business!) but it can be a great source of income as the cow reproduces. The money made can fund other animal projects and provides the women with opportunities to support their family.

If we come together to raise $6,000 we can provide 1 cow to each woman in the Kobwin Community. To donate and empower the work of these women, click the button to send a Venmo donation to me with the subject “cow project”.

you all helped reach this goal!!!

retreat for the women

I witnessed the women soaking up the yoga and baking classes, laughing with the purest form of joy. Their lives are so demanding leaving very little time for any type of practice investing in their well-being. I had a vision of bringing some of you with me to Uganda to help organize a retreat for these women. You would not need to be a yoga teacher to join. Yoga would be a part of it but it would be about showing up for these women, giving them space to breathe, and learning from each other.

If this is something that interests you, send me a message and we can talk further about the possibility!
